Touching on the Canadian border, Orleans County is one of Vermont's most rural counties. However, rural doesn't mean boring as Orleans County is also home to Circus Smirkus (who host circus camps for both children and adults) as well as Willoughby State Forest and numerous incredible lakes.
The Haskell Free Library and Opera House, which may sound familiar to you Beatles fans, located in Derby line, was suggested as a venue for a reunion between band members who were unable to cross country borders. Today, you can enter in the U.S. and exit in Canada (make sure to bring your passport!).
If you’re looking for a gentle bike ride with breathtaking scenery the Beebe Spur Rail Trail is perfect. The 4 mile, flat, gravel trail will take you almost up to the Canadian border and follows most of the way along the edge of Lake Memphremagog.
