After consecutive years of delayed openings due to everything from causeway construction to pandemics, The Local Motion Bike Ferry will open for the bike ferry season on time on Friday, May 28th at 10 am. The beloved ferry is a Vermont treasure, carrying as many as 16,000 cyclists and walkers in a season. Local Motion welcomes tourists and Vermonters alike to ride along the majestic shorelines and splendid landscapes, discovering all that makes Vermont so amazing.
The ferry ride is free to all passengers. We welcome donations so that we can continue to offer this service to everyone, regardless of the ability to pay. Local Motion is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Don’t have a bike? Rent one at Local Motion’s Trailside Center located at 1 Steele Street. Rates and bike options can be found at www.bikevt.org
