    Discuss Local Motion's Legislative Priorities

Join us on June 13th at 6pm for a legislative discussion. The movement that you are a part of is stronger than ever - and legislatures are listening! We will talk about the legislative changes that were made in this past year and think about our priorities for next year.
We want to hear from you!

Here's what we achieved together this past year:

    • We changed Vermont's vulnerable user passing law to require that drivers give at least four feet of clearance when passing people walking, biking, and rolling
    • We fixed Vermont's definition of a "pedestrian" so that it includes people using manual wheelchairs and other assistive devices, which ensures that these users are extended the same legal right-of-way as other pedestrians
    • We removed Vermont's requirement that people use sidewalks when present, recognizing that sidewalks are often impassable for people using walkers and wheelchairs
    • We protected Vermont's e-bike incentive program from being eliminated

    EZ Breezy Ride: Sunset Chasers

Celebrate the joy of biking year round on the EZ Breezy Ride!

This month is a Special Edition EZ Breezy, as we team up with our friends at the Winooski Bike Gang and Old Spokes Home. We are running a Bike Bus to the start of our main ride. Hop on at any of the pre-planned stops, or meet us along the route!

The Bike Bus will begin with Winooski Bike Gang at 5:30 pm, heading to Old Spokes for 5:45, and landing at Local Motion for our group ride start at 6:00.

    Bike Bus route here

Once we have all gathered at Local Motion HQ, we will take off north on the Burlington Greenway, out to the Island Line Trail, and back again. The full route is 16 miles long, but as we are remaining on the path the full length of the ride, you may turn around at any point that makes sense.

    Route details here

And to make this ride extra, extra special: we plan to end our ride by Champ's Legendary Creemee Stand! (Right outside the Echo Center)

    Quarter Century

Quarter Century logoThis year mark’s Local Motion’s 25th Anniversary, in other words, our Quarter Century! We are celebrating on bike and foot with The Quarter Century. Join us on August 11 for a ride, a walk, or just to party!

In an effort to bring as many people together as possible, we are offering several options for this event. Riders and walkers may start from Snow Farm Vineyards or Local Motion. For anyone planning to drive to the start, please park at Snow Farm Vineyards and choose the southbound routes. For those with riding from home or taking transit, start from Local Motion and head north. And for those farther away, you may also choose to join us “virtually” by creating your own route from home!

Party at Snow Farm Vineyards & Winery

Open to everyone, participants or no! If you are unable to join us for a ride or walk, you are still welcome to join us at Snow Farm Vineyards for the party. Riders starting in South Hero will end their ride at the party, while riders starting in Burlington will be joining the party at the midpoint of their ride.

Support Local Motion's mission to make it safe, accessible, and fun for everyone to bike, walk, and roll in Vermont. As part of our Quarter Century celebration, we are inviting you to participate in a little friendly competition, raising funds to support our mission. Create a team with your friends, coworkers, teammates, or participate alone to claim all the fundraising glory.
