A Critical Mass is a form of direct action where a group of bicyclists gather and take over the roads as a call for safer streets. Now, those Critical Mass riders have grown up and had kids of their own. The Kidical Mass is the next step - a call to families to celebrate our safe routes, and show the joys of choosing active transportation!

Make a Kidical Mass of your own!
Host a family-friendly roll & stroll in towns across Vermont, or anywhere else in the world! We took inspiration from SunDay, a day of action on September 21, 2025, celebrating solar and wind power, and the movement to leave fossil fuels behind. Let's inspire the youngest generation to choose active transportation by showing off just how fun it can be!
Tips to create your own Kidical Mass
- Create an easy and safe route (~1-4 miles) that connects kid-friendly infrastructure such as schools, playgrounds, libraries, etc.
- Download our PDF poster template and adjust the details to match your own ride.
- Want an RSVP page? We can set one up for you... just let us know.
- Partner with local organizations/groups to create a broad reaching event
- Connect with local bike shop, if available
- Depending size of group, have a faster pace (bikes?) and slower pace (strollers? scooters?) with a common destination goal (such as a playground or park)
-
Include a small scale craft option
- Download our SunDay coloring page
- Decorate bikes, strollers, helmets with stickers and gems
- Post your event to community calendars
- Get more inspiration from the original Kidical Mass
