My inspiration for this ride came from the Vermont Overland and the increasing popularity to ride on dirt versus payment. If your looking for a challenging Saturday morning effort with good people, fast riders and a cause that drastically needs the attention of the medical field, then the RAS Ride is for you. RAS Gravel along with Vermont Rare an organization that cares deeply about creating a community in Vermont and beyond for those living with and affected by rare disease. We intimately know the challenges of the rare disease journey. As passionate cyclists, we also know that there are parallels that exist between cycling and walking the rare disease path. Challenges are made easier when taken together – this is the very essence of gravel adventure riding.
My ride begins out of Wild Wings Nordic Center in my home town of Peru, Vermont at 9am. As many returning riders can attest, the 42 miles and 4000 plus elevation gain covers some of the most scenic gravel and Class IV roads in Southern Vermont. 88% taking place on dirt, it’s sure to test your off road skill set.
