Bikes for Beginners

The goal of Bikes for Beginners is to demystify the bicycle. This is the perfect quick-and-easy workshop for riders of all skill and interest levels to learn the basics. Participants will learn basic bike anatomy and vocabulary, how bikes function, how to diagnose common issues, and how to fix a flat tire. We’ll recommend tools for maintenance and on-the-road fixes, some of which will be available for purchase at the workshop.
The workshop is two hours long. Please wear closed-toe shoes and clothes that can get a little dirty. Participants are invited to bring their bike, but there are bikes available to work on if transporting your own bike is difficult.
Participants receive a FREE bottle lube, patch kit, and pair of tire levers. Free! Materials generously provided by Local Motion and the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC).
The workshop is FREE! Donations are always welcome and support Old Spokes Home & Bike Recycle Vermont's programs making bikes and the opportunities they provide accessible to our whole community.
