Vermont Bike Challenge

Welcome to the Vermont Bike/Walk Challenge!

This year, we are operating an independent challenge from the National Bike Challenge.
Why?  Because although the National Bike Challenge is awesome,  Vermonters are unique.  What fits the nation doesn't necessarily fit us.  So, we've decided to make our own challenge!  So, for those of you who like to participate in challenges, you have TWO options for getting your Challenge on!  The National Bike Challenge, or the Vermont Bike/Walk Challenge. You can pick one, or you can do both!  
The Vermont Way:
~ Includes walking & running!  
 ~ Challenge is one month long
~ Simple interface
~ Play as an individual  
~ Points awarded for trips instead of miles *
~ Separate leaderboard for miles
~ Points awarded for participation in Vermontivate and Way to Go  **

*Learn more about trips here.  Miles logging and leaderboard are still available, but no overall Challenge points will be awarded for miles run/biked
** 30 points each--up to 60 points total.  Participation will be confirmed with Vermontivate and Way to Go

The Challenge is a great way to take your riding, running or walking to the next level, whether you're just getting started, or just want more excuses to get outside! 


Feel free to log any meaningful trips.  "Meaningful" is different for every person, based on their personal goals and level of physical fitness.  For some folks, deciding to park at the far end of a shopping center's parking lot is meaningful.  For others, a 1 mile loop is meaningful.  To learn more about trips, click here:  Examples of trips


For bicycle riders: Every kind of riding counts (as long as you are outdoors), from commuting to work a couple of times a week to doing a rail trail ride on the weekend with your kids to flying down a singletrack on your mountain bike.

For runners and walkers: Every kind of running or walking counts (as long as you are outdoors), from walking to the corner store to hiking your favorite mountain, to running your usual route.

The Vermont Bike Challenge is co-presented by Local Motion, the Vermont Bicycle and Pedestrian Coalition, and the Green Mountain Bicycle Club.
