The Vermont Agency of Transportation announced a joint effort today with, the Town of Colchester and Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department to rebuild the Colchester Causeway, targeting early July for reopening.

Once work is complete, daily ferry service will begin immediately carrying passengers back and forth across the "cut" from 10am to 6 pm. An announcement about the actual first day of service will be made concurrent with the official reopening statement from Colchester.

The 8 minute ride that the Bike Ferry offers is like no other in the world and brings joy and adventure to so many. "Local Motion is grateful for the dedication and the hard work bu Colchester officials and state agencies to elevate the importance of this public asset and to allocate the resources necessary to fix it quickly. This shows a genuine commitment to not just the biking and walking public, but to the importance of outdoor recreation to our local and state economies," stated Karen Yacos, Local Motion Executive Director.

Local Motion will continue to communicate updates on progress as they receive them.
