Local Motion offers walk and bike safety education through two programs: Walk Smart, which is tailored to grades K-2, and Bike Smart, which is an on-bike curriculum intended for grades 3-8. Learn more about these programs below.
Bike Smart
Bike Smart is Local Motion's bike skills education program for children ages 5 and up!
Each Bike Smart trailer includes 30+ kids' bikes (in a full range of sizes), training materials, helmets (including helmet disinfectant), tools, and safety handouts for families—everything needed to teach bike skills to kids in grades 3 through 8. Trailers are delivered to schools and camps for one to two weeks, and Local Motion supports instructors with curriculum training.
Since 2012, Bike Smart has served over 85,000 children, with over 400,000 hours of training in over 450 programs. Bike Smart has gone to over 130 towns and over 200 schools and camps in all 14 Vermont Counties!
