Go for Gold

The Burlington Go for Gold Campaign is a community-wide effort to make Burlington a national leader for active transportation and recreation!

Silver Status for the Queen City

It's official:  Burlington is a great place for getting around by foot! The City of Burlington was recently awarded Silver-level status by the Walk Friendly Communities program.  This award recognizes Burlington's nearly 100% sidewalk coverage, its investment in better crosswalk signals, and its work to slow down traffic.  Kudos to Burlington Public Works for making infrastructure for walking a top priority.

Next stop:  Gold-level recognition!  Local Motion is working with the City and others to map out a plan for getting to gold for both walking and biking.  Check out the Go for Gold campaign to learn more about how you can make our community a national leader in active recreation and transportation.

Hey BTV, Can You Catch Up to Indy?

As Burlington strives to improve its environment for walking and biking through it's Go For Gold campaign, Indianapolis offers a striking road map of what can be done with city infrastructure. This mid-sized city used private donations and a federal TIGER grant to build an amazing 8-mile, $63m separated bicycle and pedestrian facility around downtown. Read more here!
