Tour Overview
This year's VerMontreal Bike Tour will be a repeat of our extremely well received route of 2009. We're looking for 120 cyclists to join us on a 3- or 4-day adventure up to Montreal. Our fully supported tour begins in South Hero, VT, follows the Lake Champlain Bikeway through New York and proceeds along the Richelieu River to Montreal. The weekend culminates in our group participation in the famed Tour de L'Ile!
Two Trips, One Great Weekend!
Last year was a great success, including four days of sunshine and no rain, so we are planning for more of the same this year.
The 3-day tour leaves on Friday, June 4th, from South Hero and crosses over to Plattsburgh, NY on the Grand Isle Ferry. Traveling the New York State side of Lake Champlain, we enter into Quebec and proceed to St. Jean sur Richelieu, experiencing the hospitality of Madam Boutin at Auberge Harris. Continuing onward on Saturday, we follow Quebec's La Route Verte to Montreal, where we spend the night in our luxurious hotel on Rue Sherbrooke.

The 4-day tour departs on Thursday, June 3rd, and follows predominantly the same route, except on Friday morning we will proceed north and east into the Monteregie Region. We'll ride the scenic dedicated bicycle routes through Yamaska Park and stay in a lovely hotel and spa in Granby. On Saturday, the group will travel back toward Montreal where they will meet up with the 3-day group.

In addition to fine hotels, full breakfasts, support vans, nightlife, and good company; we are highlighting the historical and culinary aspects of Quebec. Our stay in Canada offers a mix of Quebec Countryside steeped with historical sites and effervescent city life in the center of Montreal. Throughout the trip, participants will explore the Lake Champlain Bikeway, Quebec's Green Route, Yamaska Park and such historic areas as Fort Lennox and Fort Chambly. Thanks to the good graces of our sister organization in Montreal, Velo Quebec, we will be at the head of the pack for the Tour de L’Ile, the world’s largest bike ride. 30,000 people ride through 35 miles of Montreal streets without cars!
Registration Starts After New Years
The size of both trips is limited. We anticipate a great deal of interest in this year’s tour based on the rave reviews from previous participants. Local Motion Members will get a chance to register early starting January 2nd. Registration for non-members begins on February 1st. If you want to be notified by email when registration starts, please contact Tour Coordinator Adele Dienno (
