Description:
The Hinesburg Town Forest is the Fellowship of the Wheel's most extensive trail project to date.
The Forest is a unique and wonderfully varied 850 acre piece of land. It is marked by beautiful stands of firs, pines, and birches, as well as a mix of deciduous vegetation. Sections of the forest have been logged recently under the direction of county forester Mike Snyder. Mike has seen to it that the logging has taken place in a manner that preserves the integrity and health of this beautiful forest. The land is also the site of a number of old homesteads.
The Fellowship has attempted to design and lay out trails so that a user can take notice and enjoy all of these features. The new trail system is a healthy combination of beginner, intermediate, and advanced single track riding. Some of the more advanced trails contain obstacles and freeride type structures as options.
The Fellowship Wheel site near the center of the trail network is a good place to start and end rides as well as a nice gathering and meeting site.

This collection of trails is a wonderful place to ride for the intermediate to advanced mountain biker. It tends to be a bit intimidating for a rank novice or a person who is not in reasonably good shape. Although subjective, I think it would be helpful to show the level of difficulty for each trail section. The ski world uses green for easy: blue for intermediate; and black for advanced. Hopefully this program will allow for that so that users can place themselves into appropriate terrain and further their participation without disappointment. |

Awesome place. Also make sure to check out the "Circling the Sun" area across the road for two loops (easy, advanced). The area is popular for hunters, so I recommend refraining from using it during hunting season. |

Nature Boy (the beginner trail) is a great beginner single-track experience! |

One of the best Mountain biking trail areas around, and it's free. Get the map from FOTW webpage and go bananas! |

Hinesburg Town Forest is one of the best trail systems in Vermont. There are lots of options for intermediate and advanced riders and more every year due to the hard work of the Fellowship! I can't wait to ride there this year. |

It's true, the Hinesburg Town Forest is a gem. Access to the FOTW online trail maps may no longer be free, but your contribution supports the extensive annual maintenance required to keep these trails fun and sustainable. That's certainly a worthy cause! |
