About the project

The Trail Finder is a collaborative project led by Vermont non-profit Local Motion with the fabulous participation of many private and public entities. Over 50 volunteers have ventured out to collect and verify trail data. You'll find their names at the bottom of each trail. The project began development in 2005 and launched publicly in the spring of 2008.

The Trail Finder's goal is to help people get out, get active, and explore our beautiful area. Whether you're a resident or a visitor, commuting or recreating, seeking thrills or a quiet moment, we'll help you find a great place to go!

Special thanks to the project's funders:

Special thanks also to those who helped us develop this website:

Help this project continue! Here are four ways to help:

  • Submit photos, trail updates, comments – on every trail page, there's an opportunity for you to share your knowledge. Together, we'll keep this resource accurate and current. We'll credit your contributions.
  • Survey trails – be one of our stellar volunteers who is trained to inventory trails (collect GPS data, take photos, write copy) so that we can add new trails to the site. Contact Charlene to schedule a quick training session.
  • Sponsor the Trail Finder – get your business visibility. Business sponsors receive web ad placements on the Trail Finder. Sponsorships start for as little as $300. Contact Todd for more information.
  • Join Local Motion – you want great places to bike, walk, run, ski. So do we. Make it happen. Feel good and get schwag by joining Local Motion today!
