How does it work?
Secure Bike Parking is like a coat check for bicycles, strollers, or anything human powered.
We have parked over 3,800 bikes at events like Kids Day, 3rd of July, the Farmers Market, and the South End Art Hop. As our slogan says, “Avoid the fuss; leave your bike with us!” It’s a great way to enjoy an event and know your bike is being watched by a conscientious attendant. You can return to your bike at any time, and drop things off -- your shopping, bike gear, and even your shoes. (But not your kids or pets; they don’t fit on the racks!)
We're proud to offer Secure Bike Parking in partnership with the Burlington Walk/Bike Council, Parks & Rec, and Public Works.
What do you do? We ask for some information on the claim check. Then we give you the claim stub and you give us the bike. After the event, you bring back the stub and we return your bike. Our service is FREE!
Do I need a lock?
We ask that you do not lock your bicycle. The site is secure and attended at all times. However we do advise you to always bring a lock with you in case you want to stop somewhere else.
Is it safe?
Yes. We've been operating Secure Bike Parking for 3 years without a single lost bike. In that time we’ve parked over 3,800 bicycles. However, it’s up to you to keep your ticket safe because we'll give the bike back to whoever has the stub. (Elephants never forget a face, but humans do. Sadly, we don't have elephants on staff -- so please don’t lose your ticket)!
Can I leave my stuff with my bike?
Yes. Because we can't inventory your accessories, we can't be responsible for them, but anything securely attached to your bike will be safe.
How much does it cost?
It’s free to use! But, don’t forget to let event organizers know how important the service is to you!
What if I can't get back in time to pick up my bike?
When you take your claim check, you’re agreeing to our service terms. If you’re not back to pick up your bike 30 minutes after the event has ended, we’ll bring your bike back to our offices on the waterfront. You'll be able to retrieve your bike from there (during normal business hours), but we'll charge a fee for its transport and storage.
Will there be delays checking in and out?
Depending on whether the event has an official start or end time, there may be a short line when you show up. Our volunteers are conscious of wait times and work hard to get your bike parked or returned to you as quickly as possible!
How about my trailer, skates or jogging stroller?
Yes. We'll park anything electric-assisted or human-powered. If it has a gas engine, you’ll need to park it with the cars.
