Liz Robert Has Ambitious Plans for CompanyLiz_Robert_photo

Former Vermont Teddy Bear CEO Liz Robert spoke to a rapt crowd of 100 business students, professionals, and bicycle enthusiasts at Champlain College on November 17.

In April, Robert became the CEO for Terry Precision Cycling, a $6-7 million mail order company providing bicycles and apparel specifically designed for women.

At Tuesday’s talk, Robert announced that the company will be moving their headquarters and warehouse from Rochester, NY to Burlington, VT! The office will be in the JDK office building on Maple Street and the warehouse will be in the South End.

Soon to be located adjacent to the bike path, Robert wants to nurture a culture of bike commuting in the company.  “This brand can do something great for Vermont” Robert said.

TerryThe business will start with 15 or 16 employees locally, but Robert has ambitious plans to grow the business. Robert is interested in expanding product for the active cycling lifestyle – maybe women’s cycling shoes that can be worn to work along with a greater range of apparel for year-round athletic activities.

“This is incredible news.  Liz’s commitment to growing businesses in Vermont is to be lauded,” remarked Chapin Spencer, Executive Director of Local Motion.  “Terry Precision Cycling will help propel Burlington’s emerging outdoor recreation industry.”

This is more than a business proposition for Robert.  She believes in the product.  “I’ve developed a passion for road biking myself…having bought a nice bike from Roger [at Earl’s Cyclery and Fitness].”

While Robert enjoyed her work at Vermont Teddy Bear, her passion for her new challenge is clear. “I’d rather wake up and think about bicycles more than teddy bears.”

From all of us at Local Motion, “Go Liz Go!”
