This summer Local Motion is hosting three terrific interns who are helping us reach more Vermonters with opportunities to have fun and be safe on our sidewalks and roadways. All three are proud Catamounts. Keep an eye out for them in the office and at Local Motion events all summer long.
Mariah McGough, Leadership and Communications Assistant
Mariah is spending the summer working with staff to enhance and promote Local Motion's voice in communities across Vermont. She discovered the position while studying Public Communication at UVM. She looks forward to getting to know the Local Motion community and understanding how to address their needs. This internship will offer Mariah invaluable experience working in her field of study while also learning the challenges and benefits of working for a non-profit organization. During her free time, Mariah is looking forward to enjoying her first Burlington summer and taking advantage of all the events the city has to offer.
Rowan Hayes, Walk-Bike Research Analyst
Rowan is spending the summer focused on walk-bike research and analysis. Born and raised in Burlington, she recently graduated from the University of Vermont where she majored in environmental engineering with a concentration on transportation systems and design. Rowan deeply appreciates the beauty of Vermont; and enjoys biking the causeway, hiking, skiing, and playing hockey on her family’s outdoor rink. She is motivated to use her knowledge to make Vermont a safer and more inviting environment for bicyclists and pedestrians.
