Ride the Island Line Trail 14-miles along and across Lake Champlain! To make the ferry expansion sustainable, we must raise the suggested donation to $10 for a round trip, $6 round trip for Colchester and South Hero residents, kids 12 and under, and Local Motion members. If you have never been a member, you can purchase a Bike Ferry/Local Motion Membership Special, a one year membership and 3 ferry passes for the day of issue (issued only at the ferry). We'll need 5,500 people to ride the ferry to hit our goals, so please spread the word. 2010 Underwriting Sponsor: VBT Bicycling Vacations. Other sponsors include: Earl’s Cyclery & Fitness, Switchback, Old Spokes Home, Twincraft Soap, Paw Print & Mail and Marble Island Marina. Thank you Specialized and the Skirack for a recent $5,000 grant for the ferry. Read the recent Free Press story on the Bike Ferry.

Summer is certainly in full swing and we can only hope your giving your bikes the attention they deserve. It's great to see so many cyclists out enjoying the sunshine! We at Bike Recycle want to make sure that you are able to keep your summer wheels rolling.
Starting Wednesday July 28th, we will begin offering three bicycle mechanics course. Each workshop will be held at Bike Recycle Vermont; for directions click here. These one hour workshops start with the very basics of bicycle anatomy and take you through simple brake and shifting adjustments. (For a complete schedule, click on the "Read More" tab below.) Although attending each course is not required, it is strongly encouraged. These workshops are open to the community and we strive to maintain a nonthreatening space.
Donations are graciously accepted; we suggest $5 per session. Time trades are also encouraged, as we are a volunteer-based non-profit. For a schedule, click the read more tab below. Any further questions can be directed to Dan Hock:

In case you missed our recent announcement, there are big changes afoot for the Trail Finder. We are moving the site to www.trailfinder.info and with that revealing a brand new design! Local graphic designer, Ann Kiley, deserves much credit for volunteering her artistic services. She helped us pick new colors and revise the layout to make the site easier to use.
The move to a new, independent domain name comes after a year-long effort to expand the Trail Finder's geographic scope. By collaborating with three other trail organizations, we now have a site that's quickly becoming a statewide resource. This month, trail data from one of those collaborators, the Upper Valley Trails Alliance, went live to the site. In the coming weeks, we'll also be rolling out data provided by the Central Vermont Regional Planning Commission and the Rutland Area Physical Activity Coalition.
The new Trail Finder is currently in "beta", which you can preview at www.trailfinder.info (the original Trail Finder can still be accessed here). We have several more exciting features that will be coming soon, so stay tuned. Thanks to the Skirack for underwriting the project in 2010!
Your feedback is important! Please share your thoughts about the new site by emailing
