Get Safety Gear
Wearing something reflective at night dramatically increases your visibility to motorists. In fact, a person dressed all in black with a thumbnail-sized reflector is MORE VISIBLE than a person dressed all in white! Our reflective band is made with high-quality retroreflective material. It fastens securely with velcro and includes a "secret pocket" for identification or cash. It can be used as a legband or an armband.
TO GET YOUR FREE REFLECTIVE BAND, just stop by Local Motion's Trailside Center, on Burlington's lakeshore bike path just south of the ECHO Center. Free legbands available only to Chittenden County residents. For all others, a $5 donation is requested.
Need a bike helmet? One of those nifty day-glo reflective vests? Some lights for your bike? A reflective armband for evening dog walks? Our safety gear coupon gets you $6 off a purchase of $12 or more of safety-related gear at any of the following shops:

Local Motion offers senior centers and retirement homes free "Safe Walking Kits" to help elders stay safe when they are out walking (or biking!). The kits consist of the following:
We distribute these kits in conjunction with our "Street-Safe Seniors" presentations at senior centers and retirement homes. These informative and interactive presentations provide information and answer questions not only about safety for elders who are walking or biking, but also about how older motorists can interact safely with pedestrians and bike riders on the road.
