Children's Trainings
End-of-August One-Day Camps

August_Camps_Ad_-_VT_Sports_9th_BW_PRINT_smThis year, let Local Motion help you fill the end-of-August "camp gap" with a one-day bike skills training for your child!

PRE-REGISTER TODAY to hold your place.

This series of one-day bike safety and skills camps will take place during the week of August 23-27.  Children in grades 3 through 8 are invited to participate, with different grades on different days.  Participants will learn essential bike safety skills and practice what they learn under controlled conditions.

Bikes and helmets will provided for those who need them (though personal bikes are welcome).  All camps will be held in Chittenden County, with exact locations TBD.

Tuition is $40 for one-day camp (lunch included).  Scholarships are available for income-qualified families.

At this point, we are accepting pre-registrations only.  Please fill out the pre-registration form for each child that you wish to sign up.  We will be in touch by the end of May with details about location, exact time, paperwork, and so on.  We will ask that you pay at that point in order to guarantee your space(s).

Please contact Jason Van Driesche, Local Motion's education and safety manager, with any questions at 861-2700 ext. 109 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Trainings with Rec Programs and Bike Clubs
Starting in summer 2010, Local Motion will be partnering with municipal parks and recreation departments as well as with bike clubs across the county to incorporate bike skills trainings into their summer programs.  As of March 2010, we are just beginning to establish relationships with potential partners.  Please check back in mid-spring for details!

After-School Bike Safety Fairs

As part of our Safe Routes to School program, Local Motion is working with a number of Chittenden County elementary and middle schools to offer after-school bike safety fairs in spring and fall 2010. This two-hour program helps children improve their skills and build their confidence for riding a bike to school. Trained instructors work with children on turns, stops, and other essential safe-biking skills.

If you would like a bike safety fair at your school, please contact Jason Van Driesche at 861-2700 ext. 109 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  As safety fairs are scheduled, we will post the dates on this page.

NOTE:  We are also able to offer more in-depth bike safety trainings as part of Field Days.  Schools that are interested in incorporating a bike fair into their Field Days should contact us as soon as possible, as slots for field days are limited.
