Overview
Workplace-Based Bicycle Commuter Training

ed_road1Local Motion now offers a flexible, practical workplace wellness program for Vermont businesses that helps them promote bicycle commuting by employees.  Through practical lunchtime workshops, on-the-street learning rides, and one-on-one coaching, we help employees develop the skills and the confidence they need to begin commuting by bike.  We also work directly with employers to conduct a worksite assessment anddevelop a customized plan for making their business more bike commuter-friendly.

The program is structured as a menu of options that allows employers to choose the topics and the cost structure that are most appropriate to their circumstances. Employers pay program fees based on the level of involvement they choose.

This program consists of three major components:

COMPONENT 1:  Bicycle commuting trainings for employees

COMPONENT 2:  Workplace evaluation for employers

COMPONENT 3:  Incentives to boost employee participation

SPECIAL OFFER:  "GETTING BACK INTO BIKING" WORKSHOPS

Sometimes biking to work isn't practical for many employees.  Employers can still encourage biking for health and pleasure through Local Motion's "Getting Back Into Biking" workshops.  Our focus is on giving participants answers to all the questions that might be keeping them from getting back on a bike:

What do I do if my bike breaks down?
How can I make my bike comfortable to ride?
What should I carry with me?
And how do I keep from getting hit by a truck?
We offer both a one-hour basic workshop and a two-hour comprehensive workshop.  Both workshops are highly interactive, with demonstrations of bikes and gear, step-by-step guidance on how to be a prepared rider, and tips for getting the most out of your bike.  Prior to each workshop, Local Motion will work with the employer to canvass employees for questions and topics of concern, with the goal of building the workshop around the issues that are most of interest to registrants.  A basic workshop is priced at $200, and the comprehensive workshop is $350, plus travel time and mileage (if applicable).
