While a pedestrian, I recently had a little encoutner in Essex Junction with an SUV. I was on the widwalk, in the midst of a five-mile exercise walk, when I began stepping across the lowered segment of sidewalk where a business parking lot entered. I was badly bumped by an SUV leaving the lot to enter Route 2A. Paramedics and police responded. I still can't believe this happened to me, having just moved to Williston in early June about four years after suffering a traumatic brain injury when struck by a car while bicycling in Pennsyvlania. People who chose to burn gasoline rather than calories need to wake up and really start sharing space with those who chose to walk, hike, and bicycle. Evern Vermont is far from ideal when it comes to the choice. As for Williston Road, only a major-major remake will make it safer for calorie burners.
