Owner of Earl’s Cyclery and Fitness and former Local Motion Board Member Roger Frey won Trek Bicycle’s prestigious 2010 advocacy leadership award in front of 1,000 people! (Roger’s casual Vermont attire let the crowd admire his cycling legs!)
For two decades, Roger has generously supported many local and national bicycle advocacy organizations. Besides helping to grow Local Motion and also Fellowship of the Wheel (Chittenden County’s mountain biking organization), Roger has made it Earl’s hallmark to support almost every charity bike ride in this region of Vermont. For these reasons and more, President of Trek Bicycles John Burke awarded Roger the Advocacy Leadership Award earlier this year.
All of us at Local Motion couldn’t be happier to see Roger’s tremendous generosity recognized! However, in Roger’s true modest style, we didn’t even find out about the award until he quietly mentioned it to me this fall. Roger, your passion for cycling, your commitment to bike advocacy, your remarkable persistence in recovering from your crash five years ago, and most of all, your humility and genuine fun-loving personality make you a real rock star in our book. Thank you Roger!
