By day Christine Hill is the new Americorps member at Bike Recycle Vermont helping youth rehabilitate donated bicycles for low-income Vermonters.  By night, she’s the fabulous roving bread lady for August First.  Three to four evenings a week Christine loads a work bike with 30 to 40 loaves of bread before pedaling around a different neighborhood each day.   Residents are eagerly listening for her call “Get your fresh August First bread!”

“She’s done a great job” remarked Julia Kirby in Burlington’s Lakeside neighborhood.  “When she came through last week, all my neighbors came running out of their houses.  I think she sold five loaves on my street alone.”

To find out about when Christine will be in your neighborhood, email her at christine at localmotion.org.

Thanks Christine for being the latest person to meld Burlington’s thriving bicycle culture with a local business endeavor!

August First, 149 South Champlain St, Burlington, (802) 540-0060
