A good cyclist knows pit stops are an essential part of any ride. While there may be plenty of places to stop along the way, nothing beats a simple place to sit, take in the view, and recuperate from a long ride. Finding a welcoming business where you can grab some water and meet local folks only makes a stop better! That’s why Local Motion has partnered with five different businesses to help cyclists connect with the community they ride in.

Spanning from Shelburne all the way up to Alburg, Local Motion has created eight new bike rest area locations that have been handpicked to offer the best places for bikers to relax. Of the eight total locations, over half can be found near great bike-friendly businesses. Riders can grab a small bite to eat at cafes like Grand Isle Art Works or Hall Home Place, or perhaps quench their thirst at Shelburne Vineyard or Snow Farm Winery. The bike rest areas have been pointedly placed to showcase the beauty and businesses of the Champlain Islands and beyond.

At all eight stops, riders can find a sheltered picnic table that makes for a great place to eat with friends and family. Many of the rest areas are accompanied with kiosks that contain valuable information about bike routes and local business. Two of the stops can even be reached by using the famous Island Line Trail that begins in Burlington.
