Addison County

Bordered by Lake Champlain to the west and the Green Mountains to the east, Addison County blends rolling farms and woodlands with lively and picturesque New England villages. The shire town of Middlebury is enlivened by Middlebury college, and the town of Vergennes is the oldest and smallest chartered city in Vermont. Addison County is also home to the famous Tour de Farms hosted by ACORN.VergennesSquare.jpg

Local Motion supports the efforts of local communities to make Addison County and its towns a safer place for walking and biking. In the town of Vergennes we offered advice and support for a pop-up demonstration project showcasing the potential for a more walkable village center. We’ve also helped students at Beeman, Mary Hogan, Robinson, and Richford elementary schools learn how to pedal with style and confidence through our Bike Smart trainings and encouraged adults to make two wheel transportation a part of their routine through our Everyday Bicycling workshops at Bixby Memorial Library.

To become more involved in making Addison County a safer place to walk and bike, consider getting involved by working with the Addison County Walk-Bike Council or helping to form another local group!
